Clinics are designed to improve/advance a player's skill in a specific area. Our in-depth clinics:

  2008 Jim Watson Hockey Camp

July 7, 2008 through August 29, 2008
The Jim Watson Hockey Camp presented by IceWorks Skating Complex is designed to develop today’s young hockey player in a challenging, but fun, environment. On-ice sessions will be separated by age group to assure skill-specific instruction. Individual player weaknesses will be pinpointed and addressed with a healthy dose of positive reinforcement. Every player who attends will receive a Jim Watson Hockey Camp jersey.

Learn to Play Hockey & Cross Ice Game 2008
Spring Session: 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/31, 6/7, Saturdays:  10:00am - 11:00am
Summer Session: 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, 8/27, Wednesdays:  6:45pm - 7:45pm

This clinic is designed for the basic beginner who is new to ice hockey. The student will be given drills to learn how to skate and develop basic hockey skills. FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.

Defense Clinic
Dates:  3/18, 3/25, 4/1, *, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27, 6/3, 6/10  (* No session 4/8)
Tuesday Evenings:  6:00pm - 7:00pm

The Defense Clinic is designed to enhance the skills of the defensemen. Defense skills such as protecting the net from shot and other players. This clinic is beneficial to all players, not jus the defensemen. The clinic will help all players enhance their skills and knowledge of the game.
FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.

  Powerskating Clinic
Dates: 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, *, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12  (* No session 4/10)
12 & Under Thursday  Evenings:  6:00pm - 7:00pm
13 & Over   Thursday  Evenings:  7:15pm - 8:15pm

Our PowerSkating clinic teaches the proper use of edges and skating technique. The clinic also teaches strength and agility, in particular lower body and leg power. The participant will learn backward skating as well as improving overall skating performance. This clinic is beneficial to intermediate and advanced players. FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.  

Adult Learn to Play Hockey
Dates: 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, 8/27
Wednesdays:  8:00pm - 9:30pm

Our Learn to Play Hockey Clinic teaches the fundamentals of skating, stickhandling and shooting. This clinic is for beginners who wish to learn the proper basics necessary to excel in the sport of hockey. Participants in this clinic should already have taken the Learn To Skate Course and passed the Level II section of this program to benefit from this clinic. Open to all age groups.( 1 Hour of skating and 30 minutes of controlled scrimmaging) FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.

Friday Night Skills 2008
Friday Evenings:  7:30pm - 8:30pm (5 sessions)

Powerskating: 1/4, 1/11
Passing & Stickhandling: 1/25, 2/1
Shooting: 2/8

This clinic is beneficial to intermediate and advanced players. Our Friday Night Skills clinic includes a series of specially focused sessions to improve a players Skating, Stickhandling, Passing and Shooting skills. The final session will focus on applying the player's newly improved skills in a real game situation.
 FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED. SIGN UP EARLY!

Checking Clinic
Dates:  4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13
Tuesdays:  7:15pm - 8:15pm

Our checking clinic teaches players how to give and receive a check. It also teaches players the proper technique, and various ways to check. Emphasis is placed on safety. This clinic is beneficial to all players who compete at a checking level, and players about to move into a checking league.
FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED.

Stickhandling & Shooting
Dates: 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, *, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14 (* No session 4/9)

12 & Under Wednesday  Evenings:  6:00pm - 7:00pm
13 & Over   Wednesday  Evenings:  7:15pm - 8:15pm

This clinic is beneficial to intermediate and advanced players. Our stickhandling and shooting sessions will help improve eye-hand coordination and the rolling movements of the wrist. The focus will be on the proper technique of stickhandling and the accuracy of shooting on net as well as other aspects of the game.  FULL EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED. SIGN UP EARLY!
