Hydroblading encompasses a wide range
of vertical and horizontal body movements, suspension and balance. It's a new relationship
among the skater, the blade and the ice. Hydroblading uses tools like irons, cones, hockey
pucks, elastic bands and sleds, among other things, to help the skater explore their range
and push their limits. Uschi has worked with various skaters with these techniques
including Brian Orser, Elvis Stojko, Tanja Szewczenko, and others.
Expanding range, exploring limits,
connecting through the center, finding your balance point and losing fear are all part of
the Hydroblading concept. But as she believes that people really discover things on
their own.
"From the time I was a little girl,
I have had great respect for the ice. The sounds of scratchy blades really irritated me,
and I worked very hard to make those sounds disappear. I figured out how to make my blades
as quiet as possible by suspending my body weight and by cushioning every move. If you
love the ice, it loves you back!" - Uschi Keszler
Uschi and the entire coaching staff are devoting themselves to integrating these
fundamentals into all IceWorks skaters. |
